ONLINE COURSE The Indiana Student Achievement Institute is pleased to partner with the Indiana Department of Education to provide schools with professional development aimed at helping schools transform their school counseling program to the Indiana Gold Star School Counseling model. The content on these pages originally appeared as InSAI's "Guiding All Kids" Initiative published in the mid-1990's and upon which the Indiana Gold Star School Counseling model is based. |
| Introduction | Using the materials provided, school counselors create a local School Counseling Advisory Council and then facilitate eight meetings of the group. The Advisory Council designs a vision-based and data-driven school counseling program that 1) aligns with the local school improvement plan, and 2) is accountable for mastery of targeted guidance indicators, changes in targeted student choices related to educational success, and improvements in targeted student achievement. |
| Facilitator Notes | Included in the materials for each Advisory Council meeting is an "Agenda with Facilitator Notes." This document walks the facilitator through the meeting, providing tips and cautions as appropriate. |

| Pace | The online course is a "work-at-your-own-speed" initiative. However, many schools hold one School Counseling Advisory Council Meeting per month. That way they can complete the eight meetings in one year. |
