Description

This regional half-day workshop offered by the Indiana School Counselor Association in partnership with the Indiana Department of Education will be held in Evansville, Indianapolis, and South Bend.  This data-based approach will help school counselors and principals evaluate their school counseling program at three levels: 1) Did students master targeted guidance indicators in the areas of academic, career, and citizenship development?  2) Did students make different choices in targeted areas that support high achievement (e.g. enrollment patterns, attendance, turning in homework, etc.), and 3) Did targeted student achievement areas improved?

Description

During these two-day intensive workshops held during the summer, schools will roll-play meetings of the School Counseling Advisory Council as it designs a sound school counseling program that meets all of the Indiana Program Standards for School Counseling.  After the workshop, participants should be able to implement a Gold Star School Counseling Program.  Schools meeting all program standards may submit a portfolio to receive the Indiana Gold Star School Counseling Award.  This initiative supports Indiana Public Law 221, Indiana P-16 Plan, and program standards established by the American School Counselor Association.
