2003 These voluntary standards include 1) academic development, 2) career development, and 3) citizenship development. Indicators falling under each standard are organized by developmental level (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) and represent the knowledge and skills that students may master within each standard. The Indiana Universal Student Indicators for Guidance. This document includes a subset of the indicators found in the Indiana Student Standards for Guidance and are thought to be key for student success. While voluntary, it is hoped that every school will help students master these "universal" indicators. Schools seeking the Gold Star School Counseling Recognition (see below) must address each of the universal indicators. The Indiana Guidance Report This report is based on a survey conducted by the Indiana Learn More Resource Center of 85,000 9th graders and 65,000 11th graders each fall. The survey asks students to self-report their master of targeted universal guidance indicators. Data (disaggregated by school) appears on the Learn More Resource Center website. 2003 These nine voluntary standards reflect the practices of a sound school counseling program. Schools seeking the Gold Star School Counseling Recognition will use a portfolio to document their alignment with each standard (see below). Indiana Administrative Code 2001 The revised Student Services rule defines school counseling in terms of services provided to students rather than by the qualifications of the providers.
2002 The revised licensing standards for school counselors define the knowledge, skills, and dispositions in which future school counselors must be proficient. The three standards include Leadership (including student advocacy), Student Assistance (counseling), and Education and Career Services (guidance). 2003 The Gold Star Program Recognition program identifies schools whose school counseling programs are aligned with the Indiana Program Standards for School Counseling. Schools seeking this recognition submit a portfolio. Schools receiving this designation receive a special logo to use on their school materials and recognition from the Indiana School Counselor Association and Indiana Association of School Principals.
